Heather Bankard

An animal lover from an early age I grew up with a menagerie of pets: a beagle, several rabbits, a chicken, a cat and pony. At five I had a rough collie, Lad, and later on a blue heeler rescue, Kirby. Horses were my main focus so at 14 I started taking lessons, joined 4-H and competed at local shows, horse trials, hunter paces and fox hunted. At this same time I was introduced to Percheron draft horses. I worked with them giving carriage & hay rides and showed in cart, team, & under saddle classes which I continued up until 2008 when my first homebred foal was born. I majored in Equine Studies at Delaware Valley College and went on to work in the horse industry for 21 years.
Three years ago I adopted my first Jack Russell, Otis, from a local shelter and a year later Maisie came from a rescue in Georgia. We took basic obedience and beginner agility classes at Branchwater. September 2014 I started working here in the kennel and love caring for the dogs. Just like with the horses I cared for in the past I strive to keep the dogs happy, healthy, and as comfortable as possible while they stay at Branchwater.
