5:45-6:45  Foundations of Agility

Dogs entering this class will need to have basic obedience (sit, down, stay and recall) in a distracted environment.

IMPORTANT:  Dogs must be 6 months old or older & be physically sound. Subject to discretion of the instructor.

This class will expose your pups to all the basics you need to build the foundation for training in agility: self-control, motivation, balance/coordination and handling. The core goal of this class will be to build confidence and focus around the equipment, emphasizing targeting, restrained recalls, basic handling maneuvers and building drive, and much more.  Exposure to the obstacles will be covered but not the focus of this class.  Depending upon the dog & handler team, your training sessions will be tailored to the speed of your dog’s understanding of the basic exercises.  You will be advised when you have mastered the fundamentals of the sport and ready to advance to the intermediate class.

7:00-8: 15 pm Intermediate Agility

Prerequisite: Completion of the Foundations or a comparable class.

The difficulty of the obstacles will gradually increase to competition heights.  Novice Students will continue to refine their handling skills including lead outs, pushes and pulls, front and rear crosses, building confidence on contact obstacles & more.  This is a highly rewarding class where you can visibly see your dog learning to watch you and moving with increasing assurance through the micro sequences.  Depending on where your dogs are on equipment will be where we will continue. Chelsea will advise you when you have mastered the fundamentals and are ready to advance to the next level.
